My Story

While I was studying Mexican traditional postpartum medicine, I realized how potent and needed these techniques were for me, even though I hadn’t had a child. I felt like I was the one being reborn and held in my transformation, cradled by my abuelas y abuelos. I realized I could offer my services to my queer radical community here in the Bay Area, supporting their creativity in all its forms. I received the message that the medicine that held my abuelas druing their births can midwife the current waves of gender expansiveness and visionary creation, rooted in cultural wealth.

I am reclaiming the practices that nourished the wombs of my abuelas so that they can help me welcome my two-spirit relatives to their sacred and vital roles.

My Nahua, Sefardí, and Basque lineages converge in México: Guanajuato, Jalisco, Guerrero, Yucatán & México-Tenochtitlan.

Since time immemorial, my family had observed La Cuarentena, traditional protocol for the first forty days postpartum, until it fell out of use within one generation. I am part of a movement reclaiming these time tested practices that connect me to thousands of years of ancestral loving care. I bring my knowledge of plants, ancestors, and the body to carry forth the potent medicine I carry in my bloodline.

Body

I recognize that the body, as a site of transformation, doesn’t always express itself best in words. The nonverbal, visionary state brings the previously unknown and undefinable into being, manifesting realities scarcely imagined. As a lifelong dancer and musician, I am fluent in the language of the body. I hold a BA in contemporary dance & vocal music, with training in experiential anatomy. I was raised in an activist/musician household, dancing and playing Son Jarocho from the Mexican state of Veracruz.

Plants

I recognize that plants are teachers beyond the capacities of any human being. I constantly lean into their wisdom & tap into relationship they had with my ancestros. My herbal training comes from Ancestral Apothecary’s POC-centered apprenticeship, Cecemmana. I am a practitioner at Healing Clinic Collective offering care at the TGNC2Spirit Clinics in Oakland, CA.

Soy bilingüe en Español e Inglés.

Re/Birth

I recognize the physical, emotional, and energetic components of creation, transition & transformation. I am continuously learning from my family & elders, and completed Mexican Traditional Medicine Postpartum training with Panquetzani of Indigemama. I studied soul retrieval and Curanderismo at Ancestral Apothecary with Batul True Heart and Atava Garcia Swiezicki. I practice Ancestral Elevation based on the Ifá tradition with Daniel Foor.
